Chikungunya virus disease|3 October 2025| Global situation
Globally as of December 2024, current or previous autochthonous transmission of CHIKV had been reported from 119 countries and territories across six WHO regions. In addition, 27 countries and territories had evidence of established and competent Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus vector populations but had not yet documented autochthonous CHIKV transmission.

Abuja – Nigeria is rolling out one of the largest integrated vaccination campaigns in its history, aiming to protect around 106 million children against measles, rubella and poliomyelitis. The nationwide initiative will combine multiple vaccines and child health services in a single drive, ensuring efficient delivery to children across the country.

In the last five years, at least five countries in the Americas Region have reported cases and deaths related to methanol poisoning; more recently, Brazil reported 16 confirmed cases of methanol poisoning following the consumption of adulterated alcoholic beverages. The Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) urges Member States to strengthen toxicological and epidemiological surveillance, ensure timely clinical management of cases, reinforce prevention and risk communication actions aimed at the population, and coordinate with the competent authorities to investigate and control the circulation of contaminated beverages.
