Epidemiological Update Yellow fever in the Region of the Americas – 29 July 2024|29 Jul 2024 |Pan American Health Organization
Between the epidemiological week (EW) 1 and EW 29 of 2024, 33 confirmed cases of yellow fever, including 17 deaths, have been reported in the Region of the Americas. Cases have been reported in five countries in the Region of the Americas: the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, and Peru.

A total of 43 out of 124 countries, territories, and areas across the six WHO Regions provided responses: Africa (10); Europe (10); East Mediterranean (10); Western Pacific (6); America (4); South-East Asia (3). From these, a total of 16 countries and territories (Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Cambodia, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China), India, Iran, Japan, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the United Kingdom), and the United States of America) reported the presence of hvKp and 12 reported specifically the presence of the strain ST23-K1 (Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Canada, India, Iran, Japan, Oman, Philippines, Switzerland, Thailand and the United Kingdom).
Epidemiological Alert Oropouche in the Region of the Americas – 1 August 2024|1 Aug 2024 |Pan American Health Organization
Considering the increase in reported cases of Oropouche in 2024, including in areas in which no cases had been historically recorded, as well as the identification of fatal cases associated with Oropouche virus (OROV) infection and possible cases of vertical transmission of the virus and its consequences, the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) urges Member States to strengthen surveillance and implement laboratory diagnosis for the identification and characterization of cases, including fatal cases and vertical transmission potentially associated with OROV infection.
