Professor Hirofumi Sawa, Director of the IVReD, and Visiting Professor Akihiko Sato, Clinical Development Division, participated in the development of Xocova®, Japan’s first domestically developed oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19.　Shionogi & Co., Ltd. has announced that Xocova® (ensitrelvir fumaric acid) has received regulatory approval in Japan for an additional pediatric dosage and administration regimen. The expanded approval covers children aged 6 to under 12 years who weigh at least 20 kg.
