Nanoro – Sister Marie Blanche Kambire has more than 20 years of experience as a. At 53, she lives in Nanoro, a rural area 85 kilometers west of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s capital. A Catholic nun, she has dedicated her life to serving others, particularly the children she has cared for over the past 12 years at the Nanoro Medical Centre, where she heads the paediatric unit.

Considering the significant incidence of dengue registered in the Southern Cone of the Americas during the first half of the year and, in view of the beginning of the season of increased dengue circulation in the Central American Isthmus, Mexico, and the Caribbean, the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) recommends that Member States adopt the necessary measures to prepare the response to the increase in dengue, including the organization of health services to ensure adequate clinical management, prevention of complications, and avoid saturation of specialized care services.

The Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) recommends that Member States continue with the necessary efforts to achieve and maintain adequate measles and rubella vaccination coverage, ensure timely detection and response to cases, which can generate outbreaks of varying magnitude in the countries of the Region of the Americas. These recommendations are emphasized considering the mass gatherings and sporting events to be held in countries of the Americas, the beginning of the tourism season in the northern hemisphere, and the global increase in measles cases.
