Dr. Hitoshi Nakagama, President of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), visited IVReD on November 28, 2025.

First, Professor Hirofumi Sawa, Director of IVReD, provided an overview of the importance of infectious disease control in the international community, as well as the Institute’s research structure, achievements, and future directions. This was followed by a lively exchange of views based on the presentation.

Following this, the visitors toured the laboratories, and Dr. Yukari Itakura gave a research presentation, further deepening their understanding of the Institute’s research activities.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen understanding of our initiatives and to further strengthen future research collaboration. IVReD will continue to work closely with domestic and international partners to advance medical research.
