※The Uehara Memorial Foundation was established in February 1985 to commemorate the achievements of Mr.Uehara Shokichi, who was president and chairman of Taisho Pharmaceutical and also a member of the Japanese Diet, and who worked to promote science, and also to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Taisho Pharmaceutical. The Uehara Memorial Foundation awards grants to researchers who have made outstanding achievements in the field of life sciences, particularly in health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment, and who continue to be active in their fields.
