Professor Hirofumi Sawa, Director of the IVReD, and Visiting Professor Akihiko Sato, Clinical Development Division, were involved in the development of the first domestically produced new coronavirus treatment, “Xocova®” The U.S. subsidiary of Shionogi & Co., Ltd., has now received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Xocova® as indication for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) against COVID-19.
