【On-Campus only】 One Health Special Symposium for Zoonosis Control

Aug 30, 2024

One Health Special Symposium on Zoonosis Control will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Lecture Hall of the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University.

Hokkaido University has maintained exchanges with the School of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Zambia (UNZA-vet) for about 40 years. In 2007, The International Institute for Zoonosis Control (IIZC) established the “Hokudai Center for Zoonosis Control in Zambia (HUCZCZ)“ within UNZA-vet, and has been actively engaged ever since. Our collaborative research partners, the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI), Africa Centre of Excellence for Infectious Diseases of Humans and Animal (ACEIDHA), and UNZA-vet, play significant roles in public health in Zambia. At this symposium, researchers active in the field will discuss responses to anthrax and cholera outbreaks in Zambia, as well as ongoing collaborative research on the Marburg virus. Leaders from each organization will also talk about their missions and activities, and plans to strengthen collaboration on zoonotic disease control based on the One Health approach. If you are interested in infectious diseases, this is a great opportunity to learn more. For more information, please click here.
