- Highly pathogenic avian influenza
- Viral latency and reactivation
- Virus-host interaction
Overview of Research
- We aim to develop next-generation vaccines against respiratory viral infections and establish immunological evaluation methods. We elucidate secretory IgA induction mechanisms by intranasal mucosal vaccines and clarify the role of mucosal immunity in infection control.
- Through characterization of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses, we develop foundational technologies for antigenic surveillance and vaccine efficacy evaluation. We contribute to establishing rapid evaluation systems for pandemic preparedness using safe and rapid neutralizing antibody assays.
- We analyze transcriptional control mechanisms by host factors in the latency and reactivation of human immunodeficiency virus. We propose novel therapeutic strategies for elimination of latent infection.
